Horses are present during part of the sessions as teachers to present the group topic, sometimes to help us do a group exercise and other times in observation of them.
The cost for each group is listed under 'Program Schedule' and varies in price. No, insurance does not cover this, as with many holistic and experiential approaches it takes time for the benefits to be established, researched and supported. Right now programs are all private pay, we do offer some assistance through our scholarship program for those who may qualify.
No, there is NO RIDING involved in our Mental Health and Wellness Programs, all sessions are done on the ground.
It is natural to have a level of fear around horses. The programs have safety protocols in place and we do not expect anyone to go beyond their own personal level of safety. Participants can always choose to simply observe rather than get close to or handle a horse.
We understand that some people are not comfortable talking in groups or being put on the spot to speak. Although we would like for people to participate in the discussion component of the sessions, it is not mandatory. We realize we learn best from each other and often times that means simply 'listening'. Listening in groups is indeed participating in them.
Depending on the weather conditions and nature of the topics, some groups will be held outside and some inside in our indoor arena.
Most areas of the farm are handicapped accessible, however some outside areas are not. There is an ADA approved restroom on site, along with handicapped parking. The programs are adaptable and special accommodations can always be made.
No, the facility itself is not heated, most programs will be run during the warmer seasons. We do have a heated lounge/classroom along with refreshments to purchase.
Yes, you will learn some things about horses that are topic specific, but most importantly the horses will help you learn about you.
Most of our programs are short in duration, however any programs that are longer than 4 hours or more, will offer a lunch option at an additional charge. No food or drinks (other than bottled water) can be brought into the facility. There is a Pepsi Machine to purchase soda (accepts coins only), coffee for a donation and a water machine (free).
NO CELL PHONES OR CAMERAS are allowed in or around the facility to preserve everyone's right to privacy and confidentiality, please leave all cell phones locked in your personal vehicle. Mental Health & Wellness programs have to follow strict HIPPA guidelines and policies to protect all participants. Anyone who breaches this policy will be asked to immediately leave the property and may not be allowed to participate in future programming.
NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY. We understand that some participants have therapy dogs, however, here at SonnyDaze Ranch we have a strict policy in place by our insurance carrier, that no dogs under any circumstance are allowed in or around the facility. Leaving dogs locked in a vehicle is also NOT ALLOWED or safe. This policy also protects all participants, staff, barn cats and our horses.
