Here are some things to do to prepare for your horse(s) stay with us:
We know life seems to get busier when planning a vacation or a temporary change of any kind. So if you didn't mail all your paperwork to us in advance, please be sure to bring it with you at check-in. Depending on the length of your horse(s) stay or where you are traveling, you may have other important papers you wish for us to have on hand that may be important such as current Coggins, rabies certificate and/or history of physical health/issues.
If you feed grain...PLEASE fill your horse(s) daily grain and/or supplements into a zip-lock baggie for EACH FEEDING. Please use permanent marker to include on each bag: HORSE'S NAME, AM OR PM FEED, ALONG WITH 'DATE OF SERVING(S)'. DO NOT drop off a feed bag with a scoop inside.
As we all know, we only get one chance to make a first impression, same goes for our horses. We don't expect you to have them 'show ready', however, please at minimum give them a good brushing, get the mud off and give their hoofs a pick. We can't say they will look as good as they arrived upon their return unless your 'stay package' includes or you added on a 'grooming' amenity...all the more reason to give them a good once over before they arrive.
If your package has some amenities that require your horse(s) supplies such as grooming tools/sprays & conditioners/ fly spray/ hoof picks/cribbing collars/sheets/blankets/boots etc. NO, we DON'T expect you to bring them in an actual suitcase lol, but please put them in something handy like a back-pack or a bag that we can hang on the stall door. Please also have your horse(s) name on the bag. EVERY HORSE SHOULD COME WITH THEIR OWN HALTER AND LEAD ROPE! This helps us keep things organized for you and your horse(s). Note: Halters will never be worn when in their stall or during any kind of turnout for safety reasons and it is the policy of our facility.
If your horse is used to eating from a hay net or a hay feeder, you will have to provide us with a hay net for their stay.
If your 'stay package' does not include hay and you are providing your own. Please bring them in whole bales, not any partials. Please be sure to include enough for the duration of your stay, always better to have extra than not enough, we will return any that was not used to you. If we have to provide our own, because they run out or your horse(s) needed extra to occupy their time and/or keep them warm during winter months, you will be charged accordingly upon check-out. Please be sure you are bringing good quality hay that is not dusty or moldy into our facility, we do not want any foreign pollutants in our barn to irritate other horses in our care. Thank you for your understanding, we just want every horse here to be comfortable and safe!
